En nyt tiedä mihin tämä kuuluisi tunkea, mutta kyllä se 40kpl jäänmurtajia on varmaankin etenemässä. Joka tuutista tuota projektia nyt yritetään työntää käyntiin. Eiköhän tuollaisesta määrästä ja kiireestä johtuen heltiä Suomellekin ihan mukavahko osuus.

"As a longstanding Coast Guard mission, icebreaking is critical to ensuring access to polar regions and critical domestic ports and waterways. Continuing that legacy, the Coast Guard is the sole federal agency responsible for icebreaking to assure U.S. access and sovereignty in the polar regions and enable the flow of maritime commerce in the Great Lakes and America’s inland waterways. The Coast Guard currently operates an aging fleet of 2 polar icebreakers, 18 domestic icebreakers and 16 ice-capable buoy tenders and is adding an additional icebreaker this summer. As the need for a robust fleet of polar and domestic icebreakers has never been greater, the Coast Guard will deliver on the President’s intent to acquire at least 40 new icebreakers. The Service must replace, modernize and grow our fleet of icebreakers to safeguard our national security and economic prosperity that flows through America’s $5.4 Trillion marine transportation system. We are working with the Administration and Congress to implement the President’s direction."
