Our ASEA radar have the ability to 'see' stealthed aircrafts due to the 'electromagnetic holes' they will create in the air flying under stealth. We don't need to 'burn through' to do that, it will be 'passive mode', defining their position.
One way of detecting stealth, which normally is not mentioned, is through noise analysis, this has been used in subs for decades. A stealth plane is like a flying vacuum cleaner sucking up background noise. The computers now have so high capacity fitting in fighters and can now analyse the noise and existing anomalies in the back ground noise. A moving “noise free” spot is a clear indication of a stealth plane and will, with the latest sensor fusion on the Gripen be presented as an echo and a possible target ID, even a suggestion to act, pre-selected by the fighter.
Our new Gripen will see a F35 JSF coming at least as fast as it will be able to see a Gripen, and that is in good time before any need to shoot.
