Matviyenko: Economists will study the "economic" miracle during sanctions in Russia
MOSCOW, February 12. /TASS/. The high growth of the gross domestic product (GDP) in recent years has become one of the main achievements of the country's economy, it occurred despite external pressure and sanctions. This "economic miracle" will be analyzed by many economists around the world, said Federation Council Chairwoman Valentina Matviyenko at a meeting following the right hour with the participation of Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak.
"Operational decisions have been made constantly over the past few years and, as practice has shown, they were the right decisions. I think that many economists around the world will analyze this economic miracle in Russia, that with such external pressure, sanctions, and I think that many economic theories that are written in textbooks will be adjusted taking into account the experience of the Russian Federation," Matviyenko said.
The Federation Council speaker noted that "the growth rate of the gross domestic product, the growth rate of the economy is above the world level - 4.1%."
"Colleagues, in the conditions in which we live, work and work, this is, of course, a huge achievement. In five years, the gross domestic product has doubled, budget revenues have doubled. Behind this [is] the enormous work of our citizens, who work so responsibly. Of course, this is the result of the government's work and, of course, this is the huge role of our president, who keeps his finger on the pulse, who is constantly in dialogue with the government," Matviyenko explained.
The Speaker of the Federation Council noted that 2025 will be a difficult year, while the President of the Russian Federation has repeatedly noted the need to "ensure a balanced growth trajectory" for the country's economy. In this regard, according to Matviyenko, it is necessary to monitor the situation in the regions in order to respond to negative trends. To do this, it is necessary to carefully analyze and monitor the situation daily together with the ministries of industry, energy and economy in coordination with the Central Bank.
"We must keep the situation under control on a daily basis and take prompt measures to ensure steady economic growth this year and in the following years. The complexity of the situation cannot be underestimated; it is better to overestimate it than to underestimate it," the parliamentarian concluded.
