We gather at a time in which combined Russian-separatist forces are ratcheting up the violence in eastern Ukraine; their attacks on Ukrainian positions result in almost daily casualties. In a 12-hour period on Monday and Tuesday of this week, separatists launched 30 provocations, and the SMM has noted the use of heavy weapons supposedly withdrawn from the line of contact. Last week, I highlighted that combined Russian-separatist forces sent as many as 800 fighters to Horlivka and deployed a tank platoon and 10 armored personnel carriers just east of the city. Since these deployments, the SMM has registered numerous ceasefire violations around Horlivka, including explosions, anti-tank weapon attacks, and small arms fire. SMM and other reports reveal unpredictability in the conflict zone: one day is quiet, the next marked by extreme violence. These escalating attacks and the concentration of troops threaten the ceasefire and progress on Minsk implementation.
Russia and the separatists must immediately stop further attacks and end their provocations. Rather than deploying more forces, providing more heavy weaponry, and initiating attacks, the Russian Federation must honor its commitment to the ceasefire by moving all heavy weapons back into storage sites, removing personnel from the line of contact, and observing Minsk withdrawal lines as well as the ceasefire.
Combined Russian-separatist forces continue to interfere actively in SMM operations. The SMM continues to report repeated denials of access to areas in separatist-controlled Donetsk. For the last several weeks, armed members of the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic” (“LPR”) prevented the SMM from checking the serial numbers of weapons at two training sites, which is necessary to verify their withdrawal. During his briefing here this week, Deputy Chief Monitor Hug confirmed that the “LPR” tried to have two monitors expelled from their posts in separatist-controlled territory. Russian-backed separatists continue to prevent the SMM from having full, unrestricted access to the border. This deliberate pattern of obstruction by the separatists, supported by the Russian Federation, must stop. Combined Russian-separatist forces must grant the SMM full access, including access to Ukraine’s border with Russia, and stop jamming OSCE UAVs, as Russia committed to do at the Normandy leaders meeting in October.
The separatists, again supported by the Russian Federation, must also stop blocking the SMM from fulfilling a previously approved mission– the opening of forward patrol bases in separatist-controlled territory. The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the continued detention of Nadiya Savchenko, Oleg Sentsov, Oleksander Kolchenko, Stanislav Klikh and all other Ukrainians unjustly held as prisoners and hostages in Russia.
We note that on November 24, the Russian Supreme Court upheld the wrongful convictions of Oleg Sentsov and Oleksander Kolchenko. We regret these decisions, and that the Russian justice system missed the opportunity to overturn this miscarriage of justice.
The United States continues to monitor Ms. Savchenko’s trial closely. We are deeply concerned by the reported secret testimony in her trial of Igor Plotnytsky, the head of the so-called Luhansk Peoples Republic. We call on the Russian Federation to cease intimidating Ms. Savchenko’s defense team, and expect that Ms. Savchenko’s sister will be allowed to testify on her behalf in an upcoming session.
We also call on the Russian Federation to promptly and impartially investigate allegations of torture made by Ukrainian citizens Stanislav Klikh and Mykola Karpyuk, who are the subject of a show trial in Chechnya based on absurd charges that they killed Russians over 20 years ago during the first Chechen War.
Taken together, these cases raise serious concerns about the rule of law and due process, as well as respect for fundamental human rights, in the Russian Federation. The charges against Ukrainian hostages and citizens held for politically-motivated reasons should be dismissed, and they should be released immediately and allowed to return to Ukraine.

Venäjä kieltäytyy tunnistaa ukrainalaisten genosiidin -Holodomorin, mutta kyllä se vielä joutuu vastuuseen tästä hirvittävästä rikoksesta ihmisyyttä vastaan.
"Tänään on Holodomorin uhrien muistopäivä. Järjestelmällinen politiikka koko kansan tuhoutumiseksi, politiikka jolla oli tähdätty tuhoamaan Ukrainaa ja ukrainalaisia. Nämä hirvittävät kokeet toteutettiin maassamme kolme kerta. Vuonna 1921-1923, 1932-1933, 1946-1947 Stalinin henkilökohtaisesta käskystä. Yli 4 miljoona uhria oli vain vuosina 1932-1933. Yli 4 miljoona elämää kekseytyi jatkuvissa hirvittävissä tuskissa.. Tämä oli neuvostovallan tiedostettu rikos, joka sen perinnöllinen Venäjä ylimielisesti kiistää. Tänään Ukrainassa muistellaan holomodorin (Голодомор) eli nälällä tappamisen miljoonia viattomia uhreja. Holomodorin aikana (1932-1933) kuoli miljoonia ukrainalaisia (yli 4 miljoonaa), Stalinin asetuksella viljan takavarikot ja pakko-otot ja siemenviljan takavarikot koskettivat erityisesti ukrainalaisia ja se kohdistettiin kytevään ukrainalaiseen nationalismiin - onnistumatta kuitenkaan kukistamaan tätä kytevää nationalismia. Jo ennen holomodoria 1929-1931 reilut miljoona kulakkia teloitettiin "kansanvihollisina" tai vietiin Siperiaan tahi Keski-Aasian aroille kuolemaan.

Tataarit ovat myös "äärioikeistona" ja muut siellä asuneet ja pakosta lähtemään joutuneet? Kaikki jotka osavat ajatella omilla aivoilla, eikä putin-fyyrerin aivoilla ajattelvia krimilaisia (sielläkin), jotka ovat jopa iloisia, että joku ei luovuttaa.
Itse olen tukenut tämän Krimin blokaadia koko ajan. Se oli ainoa keino pitää Krimin miehetystä pinnalla myös kansainvälisesti.
Ukrainan ei kannata katkoa sähköjä Krimiltä koska se nostattaa Krimin vihat Ukrainaa kohtaan. Ei ne sitten varmaan halua paluuta Ukrainaan. Kuvitellaan, että turkulaiset katkaisisi Ahvenanmaalta sähköt, ahvenanmaalla oltaisiin varmaan vihaisia turkulaisille. Se ei ole krimiläisten vika, että Putin miehitti Krimin, ei ne krimiläiset pieniä vihreitä miehiä sinne pyytäneet. Se mitä pitää tehdä on voittaa krimiläisten mielet ja sydämet ja siksi niille pitää avata vesikanavat ja sähköt, ettei se elämän vaikeutuminen ainakaan Ukrainan vika ole.
