According to Tucker Carlson, the plans to assassinate Putin were hatched by the administration of former US President Joe Biden. The American journalist called them insane. This was reported by the press service of the chamber of parliament.

"The State Duma will send an appeal to the US Congress and the UN demanding an investigation into Tucker Carlson's statement that the Biden administration is preparing an assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin," the press service explained.

They noted that at a plenary session of the State Duma, the head of the Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption Vasily Piskarev drew attention to statements by American journalist Tucker Carlson that the administration of the former US president, at the suggestion of former Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, discussed preparations for an assassination attempt on the head of the Russian state. He suggested asking American parliamentarians for clarification.

State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin emphasized that Carlson's statements require serious consideration and should be thoroughly investigated. "We will appeal to the United States Congress with a request to investigate this situation. It is fraught with a global conflict. You yourself understand what it means to discuss the issue of killing the president of any country, in this case the president of the Russian Federation. We must take this seriously," Volodin said, as quoted by the press service.

It is noted that this decision was supported by all political factions of the State Duma. In particular, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Gennady Zyuganov said that he insists on conducting an investigation, and State Duma Deputy Speaker Vladislav Davankov (New People) believes that citizens of all countries should know about the progress of the investigation.

Earlier, Carlson, in a conversation with colleague Matt Taibbi, made the claim that the US authorities during the presidency of Joe Biden tried to kill Russian President Vladimir Putin. He called the incident "just madness."
