Ero ergonomiassa on huomattava.

He eivät tarvitse edes steadicamin tapaista (vrt. Alien 2 asetuki) kannatinlaitetta.

Videossa UKM-2000P/D:

Ei-PKM-pohjaisista sitten ehkä Negev NG7. Kuten PKM ja PKP, sekin on varusmies- ja reserviläisarmeijalle suunniteltu:

Russian-Prototype-OTs-128-Belt-Fed-Machine-Gun-3-1.jpg

About a year ago we reported about several new firearms that were designed or were in development by the Russian TsKIB SOO. Among these guns, there was a semi-auto marksman rifle called OTs-129. Apparently, that was one of the guns of a project called “Alatau” (Алатау). A couple of days ago, Kalashnikov Gun Magazine has published images of the OTs-128 machine gun that was also a part of the Alatau project.

The guns developed in Alatau project were originally supposed to be chambered in a cartridge called 6.7x51mm. Reportedly, it is the 7.62x51mm necked down to 6.5mm (.264) caliber. If this information is true, then the 6.7x51mm cartridge should be something dimensionally similar or maybe even identical to .260 Remington. At any rate, looks like either the Alatau project has been canceled or they decided to drop the new cartridge because the machine gun (OTs-128) that we are talking about is chambered in 7.62x51mm NATO. According to Kalashnikov Gun Magazine, the Tula Ammunition Plant is developing special 7.62x51mm cartridges for this weapon.

Jenkki armeija julkisti viime viikolla videon kokeellisesta laitteesta, jonka on tarkoitus auttaa sotilaita kantamaan raskaita aseita.

Armeijan esittelemä prototyyppilaite näyttää olevan kuin suoraan Ridley Scottin klassisesta Alien-elokuvasta.

Laitteelle on annettu viralliseksi nimeksi ”Kolmas käsi”.

  • 30% improved belt pull provides increased reliability in harsh, dirty environments.

Advantages of the LMG M60 E6 for the shooter:
• The weight is 9.35 kg, which is approx. 3 kg lighter than the old LMG M / 62 and the weight is better distributed.
• Better control in alternative shooting positions like kneeling and standing.
• Lower shooting speed of approximately 550 bpm compared to about 1200 for LMG M / 62, which increases the shooting accuracy of the shooter significantly reduces ammunition consumption and minimizes the risk of collateral damage.
• Ability to cast one shot at a time.
• Less recoil, which increases the shooter's ability to observe and correct for shooting.
• Better options for mounting special sights and other accessories like tactical light laser, etc.
• Stable adjustable support legs.
• Quick change of pole is possible without the use of gloves.

US Special Operations Command has ordered more light machine guns from FN Herstal. The Department of Defense has announced the award of an indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity contract to FN for an undisclosed number of MK46 and MK48 light machine guns for US SOCOM.

The $13.5 million contract was awarded on 31st August, and along with the guns includes spare parts and engineering support services. The contract was awarded on behalf of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division. The MK46 is the 5.56x45mm SOCOM variant of the M249 (or FN Minimi) which has been significantly lightened (weighing just over 15 lbs) and is belt fed only. The Mk48 is SOCOM’s upscaled 7.62x51mm (Maximi) variant of the M249 (FN Minimi). The MK48 Mod 1 has a 19.75 in barrel and a fully adjustable buttstock.

SIG Sauer have unveiled their newest entry into the small arms market at the 2018 AUSA exposition, which began today in Washington, DC. Described as the Light Weight Machine Gun, the new weapon was reportedly developed for US Special Operations Command’s medium machine gun requirement and is chambered in .338 Norma Magnum – a rival to General Dynamics’ Lightweight Medium Machine Gun.

According to the Strategie-Technik blog the new medium machine gun, which they refer to as the MG338 – although this designation is not visible on the weapon in photographs and is not yet confirmed, can feed from both left or right and is available in a number of barrel length configurations. Solider Systems Daily report that a 7.62x51mm version of the machine gun has also been developed. They are also said to be working up a prototype which can chamber the Army’s new XM1168 6.8mm GP round for the Next Generation Squad Weapon programme, which has recently released a new draft prototype opportunity notice.

The new SIG light weight machine gun appears to have a top rail that extends over the feed tray cover and also has a folding stock and ambidextrous controls. It also appears that the charging handle can be switched from left to right. There are currently no details on weight or other dimensions. Photographs of the weapon show receiver markings that read: “SLMAG Multi-Caliber”.

SIG Sauer also displayed their new hybrid ammunition, a three-piece metallic, not polymer design, with a brass body and what appears to be an alloy base. Solider Systems report that this new ammunition offers a 20% reduction in weight – this was a stipulation of the 2017 SOCOM Medium Machine Gun solicitation. The hybrid ammunition was displayed in a number of calibres including .338 Norma Magnum and 6.5mm.

SIG also unveiled their MCX-MR (Medium Range) prototype, a shortened version of their Compact Semi Auto Sniper System (CSASS) submission re-purposed for the Next Generation Squad Weapon programme.

Textron LSAT

Textron NGSW-T 5.56, 7.62 ja 6.5mm polymeeri teleskooppi ammuksilla.

Textron Systems, a business of Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT), announced today that it delivered the initial Next Generation Squad Weapon-Technology (NGSW-T) prototype demonstrator to the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command (CCDC) Armaments Center and Joint Services Small Arms Program (JSSAP). The automatic rifle prototype, based on the company’s proven Cased-Telescoped (CT) Weapons and Ammunition technology, is the first of five weapon demonstrators that Textron Systems will deliver for the program.

“Moving from contract award to delivery of a revolutionary, next-generation weapon in just 15 months not only demonstrates the maturity of our CT technology, but also the project execution excellence our team possesses to rapidly fill critical warfighter needs on schedule,” said Textron Systems Senior Vice President of Applied Technologies & Advanced Programs Wayne Prender. “Our CT weapons and ammunition offer the growth path to a true next-generation small arms weapon for U.S. warfighters, including increased lethality at longer ranges, while also delivering significant weight reductions to the warfighter.”

Technologies demonstrated by Textron Systems under the NGSW-T effort will inform the Army’s formal NGSW program and include weapon and ammunition weight reduction, weapon sound suppression, as well as fire control integration technology.
In 2018, Textron Systems also received a separate contract from the U.S. Army to develop a prototype weapon for the Next Generation Squad Automatic Rifle- Prototype Opportunity Notice (NGSAR-PON) program and remains on track to demonstrate the weapon in June 2019.

In development since 2004, Textron Systems’ CT weapons and ammunition offer an innovative weapon design that increases lethality and reduces total system weight by up to 40 percent. Textron Systems has developed rifles, including automatic rifles, in a variety of configurations and calibers, including 5.56mm, 6.5mm, and 7.62mm, and is supporting the Army’s current efforts to revolutionize its small arms capability.
