NEW Armored Weapon!
We have ordered armor protection weapons of the type M72 EC LAW (Enhanced Capability Light Antitank Weapon) by the Norwegian company NAMMO for eg. The army.
The M72 LAW is a single-shot, shoulder-fired, 66 mm armor that is easy to operate and transport. It measures less than one meter and weighs 3.4 kg. The first will be delivered in week 51-52 2018. After that, instructor training, lay-up etc. will be carried out.
COMPLETELY NEW SYSTEM
Although the look - and the name - is very similar to its predecessor, the M72 "PNÆV", which many of you probably know or can remember, then this is a further development with significant improvements.
The new weapon has, among other things, a 50% greater breakthrough than the original, as the rocket can break through up to 450 mm steel against the 300mm that the old M72 "PNÄV" could.
In addition, the firing mechanism has been changed to a forward trigger trigger.
The weapon is equipped with picatinny rails for eg mounting of front grips, laser sieve and reflector sights, which are designed to more easily hit the running targets.
Initially, the weapon was introduced under the M72 designation of the US Army in 1963. The name was justified by the fact that the M72 - in the American context - was the 72nd system of US rocket launching systems. In Denmark, the weapon was introduced as "M72", since the introduction year in Denmark was just 1972.
SHOOTING TRAINING
As a training tool , a larger number of exercise weapons are acquired that shoot at 21 mm. inserts. These weapons are a copy of the "sharp", but will be easier and cheaper to use for training the shooters. It is also planned that the weapon will be included in future garrison simulators, where the shooters can virtually train with the weapon.
New name in Danish context has not yet been determined. But we are happy to take good suggestions.
What is the weapon called
