Hungary to Become the First Customer for DND RGW 110
15. December 2022
The Hungarian Armed Forces will become the pilot customer for Dynamit Nobel Defence’s (DND) newly-developed RGW 110 HH-T (Recoilless Grenade Weapon, 110 mm, HEAT/HESH Tandem) anti-tank weapon, a spokesman for the company confirmed to ESD. According to the representative, the joint venture between DND and N7 Holding Ltd, established on 9 December 2022, has received a “substantial contract” for the manufacture and supply of RGW 110 anti-tank weapons. Deliveries may be in progress by as early as the mid-2020s.
DND had already signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Hungarian government some two years ago, under which a joint venture partner would be sought for manufacturing in Hungary. The joint venture has now been established, with the contract signed by Michael Humbek, CEO of Dynamit Nobel Defence, and László Palkovics, CEO of N7 Holding Ltd.
Production is due to take place in Kiskunfélegyházá, located 120 km southeast of Budapest, where construction of a new plant for this purpose is due to begin shortly. According to the DND representative, this plant will be integrated into the supply chain for DND, and will also supply RGW 90 and RGW 110 weapons for markets beyond Hungary in the future. DND is based in Burbach, Germany and it has been understood that the warhead component of the RGW family will continue to be produced in Burbach.

RGW 110 HH-T
DND sees the RGW 110 HH-T as a direct successor to the Panzerfaust 3 family, which will celebrate its 30th anniversary in service with the Bundeswehr this year. According to DND, the weapon has successfully demonstrated its “combat power and destructive performance” in Ukraine war despite its relative age. According to the company, the RGW 110 HH-T is intended to take the strengths of the Panzerfaust 3-IT warhead and combine them with the ergonomics and operating concept of the RGW series.
Overall, however, the new warhead is to be shorter and feature an ergonomically optimised extractor barrel with a pre-high charge, which could increase penetration performance over the DM72A1 to up to 1,000 mm of rolled homogenous armour equivalent (RHAe) behind explosive reactive armour (ERA).
Compared with the Panzerfaust 3, the RGW 110 HH-T is said to be around 4 kg lighter and, with an effective range of up to 800 m, can engage targets at roughly twice the range. The weapon also possesses increased accuracy compared to its predecessor, owing to an improved sighting system.
